PBSC HEAVY EQUIPMENT MECHANICS PROGRAM EARNS NATIONAL ACCREDITATION

(BELLE GLADE, Fla. – Feb. 2, 2018) Palm Beach State College’s Heavy Equipment Mechanics program, based on the Belle Glade campus, has received ASE Training Program accreditation by the ASE Education Foundation. The foundation is affiliated with the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE), the industry’s leading certifier of automotive and diesel professionals.

PALM BEACH COUNTY UNEMPLOYMENT RATE DROPS TO 3.6 PERCENT FROM 4.6 PERCENT YEAR AGO; MORE THAN 10,000 JOBS ADDED OVER YEAR

West Palm Beach, Fla. (Jan. 19, 2018) – The year 2017 ended with among the lowest unemployment rates in a decade for Palm Beach County – 3.6 percent for December 2017 — down from 4.6 percent a year ago and below November’s 3.8 percent. The county’s rate was lower than the state’s 3.7 percent and the nation’s 3.9 percent (all numbers not seasonally adjusted), according to reports released today from CareerSource Palm Beach County and the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity.

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT BOARD OF PALM BEACH COUNTY LAUNCHES WORKFORCE ANALYSIS TO ENSURE CONTINUING BUSINESS RELOCATION SUCCESS

The Business Development Board of Palm Beach County (“BDB”) today launched a comprehensive workforce study to analyze the area’s labor force, as part of its ongoing commitment to keep Palm Beach County a premier business destination. With support from JP Morgan Chase, the workforce assessment is supported and will be guided by a PBC Skills Team comprised of the BDB, Chamber, municipalities, Career Source, Economic Council and educational leaders who convened today at the West Palm Beach Hilton for a project briefing presented by Boyette Strategic Advisors (“Boyette”).

PALM BEACH COUNTY UNEMPLOYMENT RATE DROPS TO DECADE LOW OF 3.6 PERCENT; HIRING REBOUNDS AFTER HURRICANE IRMA

West Palm Beach, Fla. (Nov. 17, 2017) – Reports released today from CareerSource Palm Beach County and the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity show that Palm Beach County’s unemployment rate for October 2017 dropped to a 3.6 percent decade low – and down 1.4 percentage points below the year ago rate of 5.0 percent. Florida’s unemployment rate matched Palm Beach County, down from 4.9 percent last year, and both are below the 3.9 percent national rate, all numbers not seasonally adjusted. The county’s unemployment rate is the lowest since March 2007 when it was 3.5 percent.
