GOVE EXPLORES THE WORLD DURING MULTICULTURAL NIGHT

BELLE GLADE — Multicultural Night was held on Thursday, Nov. 29. The theme was “Exploring the Seven Continents.” Gove’s Steel Band Club, under the direction of music teacher Mr. Bethel, opened up the night with a selection that focused on the many cultures of the world. Each grade group worked with one of the seven continents by teaching students the different cultures, habitats, animals and languages spoken in each region. The students’ work was then displayed in the cafeteria as part of the tour of the seven continents.

Special to the Lake Okeechobee News/GES Gove’s Bangladesh Dance Club sponsored by parents, Mrs. Shanta and Mrs. Islam, performed the Day of the Holiday.

During the event, students were given a passport to take to each continent’s display. As students and families visited each display, their passport was stamped, and they received souvenirs from that continent. After forty-five minutes of exploration, families enjoyed more performances.

Gove’s Multicultural Dance Club, sponsored by Mrs. Lopez, presented the School Choice Dance. The last selection of the night was the Day of the Holiday by Gove’s Bangladeshi students. The cafeteria was full of very pleased attendees. It was a wonderful opportunity to learn about the many cultures that form our school.

A special thanks to Gove’s administration, staff, parents, students, Gove’s Multicultural Dance Club, and the Bangladesh community that made the Multicultural Night a big success. Without a doubt, Gove Elementary has the finest parents, students, volunteers and staff.
