GLADES-AREA CLERKS HONORED

The city clerks of the tri-cities are feeling the love this week for the often thankless job they do for both the public and their own municipality’s elected officials.

The 49th annual observance of Municipal Clerks Week is celebrated across the nation this week, May 6-12. From left are South Bay City Clerk Jessica Figueroa, who’s served for 10 years; Belle Glade City Clerk Debra Buff, 23 years; and Pahokee City Clerk Tijauna Warner, three years. The office of municipal clerk is the oldest among public servants, and their special week, established by their international group, was first declared in the U.S. by President Reagan in 1984. This photo was taken at the monthly meeting of the Palm Beach County clerks’ group at Clewiston City Hall on April 25.
