February 11, 2020 – WEST PALM BEACH, FLA – Today, the Business Development Board of Palm Beach County (BDB) and the School District of Palm Beach County partnered on a record-breaking annual event, the Claim Your Future Showcase. More than 1,200 local high school students from 27 different schools convened at the Palm Beach County Convention Center to meet and interact with 50 diverse companies.
The Claim Your Future Showcase opened up this morning with Dr. Fennoy, Superintendent of the School District of Palm Beach County, welcoming the students in the Grand Ballroom. The event’s grand sponsor, Wells Fargo, presented the students with an overview on financial literacy skills, followed by a panel presentation. The panel included leaders from Pratt & Whitney, Scripps Research Institute, Florida Power & Light, Carpenter Electric, and Wells Fargo, each representing different industry sectors. The moderator was a local entrepreneur and founder of Piper’s Angels, also representing Junior Achievement of the Palm Beaches & Treasure Coast. CareerSource Palm Beach County shared a soft skills session where students learned the basics of interacting in the professional world, a skillset that’s been in high demand across all industry sectors.
The Business Development Board also ensured that there was an exhibitor hall full of diverse companies and opportunities for students to meet and interact with employers such as:

- Five career showcases since the event’s inception, each hosted annually
- Over 7,000 high school students have been inspired over the years
- Dozens of schools participate throughout the County, from Pahokee all the way to Boca Raton
- Hundreds of companies have participated
- Countless career placements have been facilitated
This year brought in the most students in the event’s history thanks to support from the Grand Sponsor, Wells Fargo and the transportation sponsors that assisted in bringing more busses to the event, CenterState Bank and Comvest Partners.
The prize giveaways were provided by ESPN West Palm and Sunfest. The swag bags were provided by Oasis through Junior Achievement. The BDB’s investor partners, Pratt & Whitney, Aerojet Rocketdyne, and Bank of America are also huge supporters of education in the County.
The Claim Your Future Showcase is hosted each February and is full of community collaboration from education supporters and sponsors such as the Business Development Board, School District of Palm Beach County, Junior Achievement of the Palm Beach Beaches & Treasure Coast, CareerSource Palm Beach County, and Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners.
