BDB EXPLORES NEW METHOD TO GROW THE LOCAL ECONOMY

Economic gardening is an economic development approach to growing the local economy from within by fostering entrepreneurship and startups. It’s important because entrepreneurs start companies that create jobs and drive economic growth.

To ensure Palm Beach County continues to be one of the top leading business locations, the BDB is always exploring new strategies that enhance Palm Beach County’s competitiveness.

To support this approach, BDB Vice President of Business Facilitation and the Glades Region, Shereena Coleman, participated in an Economic Gardening training program through the Edward Lowe Foundation in Big Rock Valley, Michigan.  The foundation provides training to entrepreneur support organizations and shares the multiple theories that are used with this method. The theories included Complexity Science, Network Theory, Temperament, Systems Thinking, and Core Strategy analysis, all of which the BDB plans to utilize in its economic development efforts.
